Task 4
Project Pitch Competition – Problem Statement & Guidelines
1. Problem Statement
Civil engineering today faces multiple challenges at the intersection of sustainability, urbanization, and infrastructure resilience. Participants are invited to propose an innovative, practical, and scalable solution addressing one major challenge from the following domains:
Sustainable Construction Materials & Technologies
Urban Infrastructure & Smart Cities
Disaster Resilience & Climate Adaptation
Water Resources & Environmental Engineering
Transportation Systems & Mobility Optimization
Structural Health Monitoring & Advanced Analysis Techniques
Your pitch should clearly identify a real-world civil engineering problem, justify its importance, and propose a feasible solution backed by technical reasoning, data, or proof of concept.
2. Submission Requirements
2.1 Pitch Deck (Mandatory)
A maximum of 8 slides, including:
Title & Team Details
Problem Definition
Background & Motivation
Proposed Solution / Concept
Technical Feasibility
Innovation & Uniqueness
Impact (Social, Environmental, Economic)
Implementation Plan / Roadmap
2.2 Optional Supporting Materials
Sketches, models, or design diagrams
Data analysis / simulations
2.3 Presentation Format
Time limit: 5 minutes pitch + 2 minutes Q&A
Use clear visuals and engineering reasoning
